Shepherd's House is a 42 bed, long term, residential and transitional housing center for men dealing with life controling issues. We primarly deal with alcohol and chemically addicted men and men dealing with PTSD. Although most of our clients are homeless veterans we also keep our doors open to men coming from prison or the court system. All of the men are 18 years or older and of all ethnic backgrounds.
The facility is centrally located on the northeast side of Fort Wayne, IN. We have a full time counselor to help our men deal with many issues. Our substance abuse program offers education and therapy regarding alcoholism and/or chemical dependency and recovery. Our clients attend daily recovery sessions and have access to spiritual counselors and caring individuals who assist them with the creation of an effective support system.
Our program is successful because we focus on Christianity first. Our founder believes that each client needs to find a sponsor to help them understand the alcohol and drug addiction recovery process, but common sense dictates that the sponsor may not be available at 2AM when the triggers kick in . . . but Jesus Christ is available 24/7.
At Shepherd's House clients start hearing there is hope and they begin to learn how to have a personal relationship with The Lord. Shepherd's House has two distinct, yet overlapping 12 Step programs - Christian and Traditional. The Traditional 12 Step AA/NA/CA meetings support individuals who begin a journey of faith, based on God as the source of recovery, so they may better understand Him as presented in Alcoholics Anonymous. The Christian program presents a Christ-centered biblical approach to recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.
We believe in our client's inner strength and ability to change. Shepherd's House provides clients with every tool to teach them how to live without the crutch of alcohol and drug abuse and why their lives depend on recovering from their substance abuse problem.
